The National Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo was first held in 1991. In 1993, it was held by the China Pharmaceutical Equipment Industry Association. In 2001, Beijing Jingboxin Exhibition Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the association, was responsible for the hosting and operation of the Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo. In 2008, the Ministry of Commerce approved the holding of the China International Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo at the same time. After years of standardized operation by a professional team, customer-oriented service awareness, and efficient exhibition information system support, the Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo has embarked on the track of market-oriented management and professional operation.

Since 2004, the Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo has been listed as one of the key supported exhibitions by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China for many consecutive years. In recent years, the exhibition area of each exhibition has exceeded 150,000 square meters, covering nine major sections including preparation machinery, raw material machinery, pharmaceutical packaging machinery, testing & laboratory equipment, pharmaceutical water, gas equipment, engineering purification and environmental protection equipment, medicinal crushing equipment, decoction equipment, and other pharmaceutical machinery and equipment. More than 1,400 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions brought more than 10,000 sets of the latest equipment to the exhibition, attracting nearly 80,000 professional visitors to visit the site for exhibition exchanges and discussions. It has developed into one of the few large-scale pharmaceutical machinery expositions in the world, and is praised by exhibitors as "the best pharmaceutical machinery exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region" and "the best platform for developing the Chinese pharmaceutical market."
